Bhubaneswar: The critically acclaimed Odia film Ananta, directed by Sabyasachi Mahapatra and Kumar C. Dev, will begin streaming on the Odia OTT platform AAO NXT from March 26, bringing the powerful story to digital audiences after its successful theatrical run.

The film, based on the timeless story “Randi Pua Ananta” by legendary Odia writer Fakir Mohan Senapati, narrates a deeply moving tale of redemption and sacrifice.
Ananta traces the journey of a rebellious youth known for his mischief and carefree attitude. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when a devastating flood threatens to destroy his village. In a moment of extraordinary courage, Ananta uses his own body to block a breach in the river embankment and urges villagers to pile soil over him to stop the floodwaters.
The act saves the village but costs him his life, transforming him from a troublemaker into a selfless hero whose legacy lives on.
Set against the natural beauty of rural Odisha, the film remains rooted in a purely Odia narrative and has received overwhelming appreciation from audiences for its emotional depth and powerful storytelling.
Produced by Naveen Bhandari, Suraj Mahnot, and Archita Sahu, the film stars Sabyasachi Mishra in the titular role. His intense and nuanced performance as Ananta has been widely praised. The film also features Surjyamayi Mahapatra, Kuna Tripathy, Tapas Sargharia, and Jyotirmayee Panda in important roles.
The film’s music has been composed by Abhijit Majumdar, while cinematography is handled by Huetsang Mahapatra.
Ananta was earlier released in theatres across Odisha on June 12 and later telecast on the popular Odia entertainment channel Zee Sarthak. With its digital premiere on AAO NXT, the timeless story is set to reach an even wider audience, continuing to inspire viewers with its message of courage, sacrifice, and humanity.
Director Sabyasachi Mahapatra is known for several critically acclaimed films including Sala Budha, Bhukha, Pahadara Luha, and Jhili, which have significantly shaped modern Odia cinema.
