Odia Film Industry Celebrates International Women’s Day, Salutes Strong Female Characters
Bhubaneswar: The Odia film industry marked International Women’s Day by celebrating the powerful women characters portrayed in Odia cinema and acknowledging the contributions of actresses and women professionals working behind the scenes.
Streaming platform AAO NXT shared posters of actresses who have portrayed strong and memorable roles in Odia films. The platform highlighted performances by popular actresses such as Sivani Sangita, Elina Samantaray, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Archita Sahu, Debjani Deghuria, and Bhoomika Dash, among others.
Sharing the tribute, the platform wrote: “Celebrating the strength, grace and inspiring stories of women everywhere. From powerful characters to unforgettable journeys, here’s to the women who shape stories and the world around us.”
Meanwhile, production house Platoon Films, which is set to enter the Odia film industry with its upcoming movie Bindusagar, also extended Women’s Day wishes to the women associated with the project.
The film’s team includes actresses Prakruti Mishra, Sonalli Sharmistha, Mamata Tripathy, and Madhumita Mohanty. The production also acknowledged singers Aseema Panda, Smrutirekha Upadhyay, Antra Chakraborty, and Ananya Sritam Nanda. Women working behind the camera, including chief assistant director Sulagna Mohapatra and costume designer Shilpi Agarwal, were also appreciated for their contributions.
Actress and producer Barsha Patnaik also celebrated the day by recalling her film Trikanya, directed by her husband Anupam Patnaik.
Sharing a heartfelt message on social media, she wrote that time has flown since the film’s journey began and expressed gratitude to the entire team. She thanked director Anupam Patnaik for his vision and trust, writer Manas Padhiary for crafting the story, and cinematographer Deepak Kumar for beautifully capturing the emotions on screen.
Barsha also acknowledged her co-actors Manoj Mishra and Aman, saying their performances made every scene memorable. She further expressed gratitude to the technicians and crew members whose dedication and hard work helped shape the film.
Calling the experience a blessing, Barsha said being part of such a passionate and talented team made the journey of Trikanya truly special and memorable.
