Sambeet Acharya’s Look as Rajan from Kangula Released
Bhubaneswar: The first look of Sambeet Acharya as ‘Rajan’ from the upcoming Odia film KANGULA – Maa Kali Ra DANDANACHA has been officially unveiled, creating excitement among fans and industry watchers alike.
Introduced as “the most crazy boy of Kangula village — fear doesn’t live where he walks,” Rajan appears to be a fierce, fearless and intense character deeply rooted in rural Odisha. The look hints at a raw, rugged persona, setting the tone for a powerful story inspired by true events.
Directed by Aswin Tripathy, who previously helmed Delivery Boy 2 and Motorcycle, Kangula is described as “a divine tale from the soil of Odisha.” The film is produced by Sambeet Acharya and Suvendra Kumar Malla (Litu) and is slated for release in 2026.
Rooted in Danda Naacha Tradition
The film draws inspiration from Danda Naacha (Danda Jatra/Danda Yatra), one of Odisha’s most significant ritualistic festivals, celebrated mainly in Ganjam, Dhenkanal and Angul districts. Observed during the month of Chaitra, the festival sees devotees known as Danduas or Bhoktas undertake 13-, 18- or 21-day rituals dedicated to Goddess Kali and Lord Shiva.
By centering the narrative around this ancient spiritual tradition, Kangula promises a blend of devotion, madness, and emotional intensity.
The makers have announced that more details about the film’s cast, music, and production schedule will be revealed soon. With the release of Rajan’s first look, anticipation for Kangula has officially begun.
