Odia Blockbuster Bou Buttu Bhuta to Stream on Aao Nxt from December 26

Bhubaneswar: After rewriting box-office history and emerging as a cultural phenomenon, the Odia horror-comedy Bou Buttu Bhuta is all set to make its digital debut.

The film will begin streaming on the Aao Nxt OTT platform from December 26, giving audiences another chance to experience the record-breaking entertainer.

Starring Babushaan Mohanty in the lead, Bou Buttu Bhuta has enjoyed a dream theatrical run since its release on June 12, crossing the ₹20 crore mark at the box office and completing over 50 successful days in cinema halls.

Directed by Jagdish Mishra and produced by Tripti Satpathy, the film also features Aparajita Mohanty and Archita Sahu in pivotal roles.

Blending horror with comedy, the film struck a strong emotional and entertainment chord with audiences, not just in Odisha but across the country and among the Odia diaspora. What began as a modest regional release quickly snowballed into one of the biggest successes in Odia cinema history. Within weeks of its release, the film reportedly collected over ₹15 crore net, a landmark achievement for the industry.

Adding to its remarkable journey, the film has achieved another historic milestone — Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has acquired the official remake rights, making it the first Odia film to be adapted by a major Bollywood banner for a pan-Indian audience.

With its OTT release on Aao Nxt from December 26, Bou Buttu Bhuta is expected to reach an even wider audience, continuing its extraordinary run beyond the big screen.
