Goa/Bhubaneswar: Odia film actor Manoj Mishra had a remarkable exchange with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan on the sidelines of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The interaction, which was initially planned to last only a few minutes, extended into a deep and insightful discussion on the growth and potential of Odia cinema.

According to Manoj Mishra, he was deeply inspired by Aamir Khan’s humility and his genuine curiosity about regional filmmaking. Mishra revealed that he shared his vision for strengthening Odia cinema and enhancing its visibility on national and global platforms.

“He had given me ten minutes, but our conversation continued for one and a half hours. Aamir Khan listened with great interest and clearly understood the concerns and aspirations I hold for cinema made in Odisha. Despite being such a huge star, he gave me complete respect and attention,” Mishra said.

The actor added that the interaction felt like a new chapter for Odia cinema, expressing hope that the conversation will open pathways for broader collaboration and recognition within mainstream Indian film industries.

Calling it just the beginning of something meaningful, Mishra concluded his note with an emotional tribute: “This is the beginning… Hail Goddess Samalei.”

The 56th edition of IFFI has brought together eminent filmmakers, actors, and industry experts from across India and abroad, creating opportunities for dialogue and partnerships across regional film sectors.
