Bhubaneswar – The team behind Mo Bou Mo Gaan (My Mother My Village), an Odia documentary that recently won the prestigious Silver Lotus Award at the National Film Awards, celebrated their success on Friday at Geeta Govinda Sadan Friday.

Directed by Subhash Sahoo, a renowned sound designer from Odisha, the 63-minute film highlights the fading traditions and cultural roots of rural India. “It’s a huge honour. This film was born from the desire to preserve our traditions, which are slowly vanishing,” said Sahoo, who also narrated and acted in the film.

The film centers around Seba Bou, a woman from Baluria village in Kendrapada, who was mentoring young girls in traditional customs essential to rural womanhood. Though Seba Bou is no longer alive, the film celebrates her enduring legacy.

Produced by Suprava Sahoo under the banners of Kicksy Wicksy Films and RNV 1820 Films, and co-produced and edited by Suvir Nath, the project took 18 years to shoot and two years of post-production. It has already received international acclaim at various film festivals.

Mo Bou Mo Gaon stands as a tribute to Odisha’s cultural heritage and the spirit of rural womanhood.
