Action star Akshay Kumar has seen a rough patch in his career since the past few months. Now, it looks like the same is affecting his upcoming releases. The huge box office failure of ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Selfiee’ has led to the makers of ‘OMG 2’ rethinking their strategy.
Directed by Amit Rai, this film is being made out to be a spiritual sequel for ‘OMG – Oh My God!’, released in 2012. Several news reports have now come in alleging that the makers have decided to skip a theatrical release of ‘OMG 2’ and the film will directly arrive on an OTT platform. Speculations are rife that Akshay’s rocky ride at the box office may have led to this decision.
However, there is no official confirmation about the same. ‘OMG 2’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
Apart from ‘OMG 2’, Akshay also has a string of movies lined up like the ‘Soorarai Pottru’ remake, ‘Capsule Gill’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’ in the pipeline. The actor has also signed up for Dinesh Vijan’s next action drama titled ‘Sky Force’. Interestingly, Akshay is now going to make his debut in Marathi films with Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’.
