Bhubaneswar – The State-Level National Handloom Day 2025 celebrations turned into a spectacle of style and culture at Janata Maidan, where actress Bhoomika Dash walked the ramp as the showstopper for Boyanika’ at the much-awaited fashion event ‘Ekta 2025’.
The celebration, which began on August 7, was inaugurated in the presence of Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit, who was officially declared the Brand Ambassador for Handloom in Odisha. The festivities include a series of events — starting with the EKTA (Exhibition cum Knowledge Sharing for Textile Advantage) programme on August 8 and 9, followed by a week-long Mega Handloom and Handicraft Exhibition running from August 7 to 13.
At the fashion show, Bhoomika Dash stole the spotlight in a stunning handloom ensemble by Boyanika-Odisha’s premiere handloom brand, gracefully blending Odisha’s rich weaving heritage with contemporary elegance. Her showstopper appearance drew thunderous applause from the audience, which included designers, weavers, dignitaries, and fashion enthusiasts.
The ramp showcased a variety of Odisha’s famed textiles, from intricate Sambalpuri ikat to regal Bomkai designs, all meticulously crafted by local artisans. The event aimed to highlight the craftsmanship of the state’s weavers while giving traditional handloom a modern-day stage.
Speaking after her walk, Bhoomika said, “Being part of a show that honours our heritage while empowering artisans is truly special. I’m proud to represent Odisha’s handloom on such a prestigious platform.”
