Actor-Politician Siddhant Mohapatra’s Mother Passes Away at 80; CM and Deputy CMs Express Condolences

Bhubaneswar: Kanak Mohapatra, the mother of renowned actor and Digapahandi MLA Siddhant Mohapatra, passed away on Saturday the age of 80 following a prolonged illness. She had been under treatment for the past few days but succumbed while undergoing medical care.

The news of her demise has drawn widespread condolences from across the political spectrum, including heartfelt tributes from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and both Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.

Chief Minister Majhi personally visited the Mohapatra residence in Bhubaneswar to pay his final respects. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, he wrote:

“Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Digapahandi MLA Sidhhant Mohapatra’s mother. I paid my last respects at his residence and expressed my condolences to the bereaved family. May Lord Jagannath grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family in this difficult time.”

Deputy CM KV Singh Deo also offered his condolences, writing:

“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear of the passing of Kanak Mahapatra, mother of Odisha’s celebrated actor and our party’s respected MLA. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May her soul rest in peace.”

Deputy CM Pravati Parida echoed similar sentiments, posting:

“Saddened to hear about the demise of Kanak Mahapatra, mother of popular actor and our colleague, MLA Sidhhant Mohapatra. I offer my deepest condolences and pray for the eternal peace of her soul. Om Shanti.”
