Bhubaneswar: Odia cinema witnessed a heartwarming resurgence as ‘I Am Kalia’ drew massive crowds on its opening day, filling 26 theatres to capacity. The emotional love story of Jaga struck a deep chord with audiences, garnering widespread acclaim.

The film, both directed by and starring Harihara Mahapatra, premiered at PVR Cinemas in Bhubaneswar in a grand event graced by notable personalities. Senior BJP leaders Samir Mohanty, Kalandi Samal, and Ranjit Thakur were in attendance, alongside renowned lyricist Panchanan Nayak, writer Akhila Pattnayak, actor Kuna Tripathy, veteran actress Pushpa Panda, Debjani, and music director Baidyanath Dash. The premiere also saw a strong turnout from film critics, media professionals, and enthusiastic cinema lovers.

A foreign actress Aniya in the film left a lasting impression on the Odia audience with her standout performance, adding to the film’s diverse appeal.

Mahapatra’s direction has been lauded for capturing the essence of Odia culture and the spirit of Odisha’s soil. Produced by Subash Sahoo, this marks his debut as a producer, and audiences have embraced his efforts with warmth and admiration.

The film’s music, praised for its melody and emotional depth, adds further charm to the cinematic experience.

Following the enthusiastic reception, the production team is hopeful that ‘I Am Kalia’ will continue to win hearts and contribute to the ongoing revival of Odia cinema.
